A great coming of age story for those of us who should have come of age a long time ago, relatable, honost, and a lot of fun.
BT Hunter's "The Maine Idea" is one of the most moving and profound works I've come across in quite some time. Hunter's ethos and aesthetic are revolutionary in the genre and I think his work has a chance to become a part of the historic literary codex. "The Maine Idea" is a great read, but never ceases to be thought provoking. I recommend it highly to anyone who enjoys a good book of any kind.
This masterpiece by Saldinger, whoops I mean Hunter, may have captured my imagination more than any book in recent memory. It tells the tale of a sad, dillusional, jelous man, who is beset with insecurities and the fact that none can be sure exactly what race he stakes claim to. Its a story about dealing with the lonliness of everyday life, told by a muckracker who is willing to bare his soul to the snickering world. Cudos to you, Mr Hunter (if that's your real name) and thank you for letting me know that there are others out there who are just like the real and non-external me. Hitchhike your way to the Ny Times Bestseller list.
As one of the miserable mean people referenced in this book I felt I should review it. Oh, wait, this is a fiction so I don't think I even exist. None the less, I would say that while the protagonist in this book is a sad fellow the likes of which even a hater like myself has never encountered, it certainly is a great read, if not just for the purpose of making oneself feel as if their life doesn't completely and truly suck as this one B.T. Hunter, or Benny, or Tom, or whatever his real name is. The despondent character of this book nearly drove me to suicide until I realized that no matter how monotonous or routine my life has become, there are those who truly lead a life destined to failure. I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who wants a truly entertaining read and is currently sitting on the ledge of a bridge and is about to jump.
